Parkway

A long exposure photograph of a roadside motel. To the left of the frame, the highway is visible and a neon sign sits right on the edge. The sign is brightly lit, the top of the sign is modeled off of the sun with a circle featuring concentric tubes of lit neon. Five lines protrude at angles from the center to mimic sun rays. In the dark sky above clouds can be seen crossing the full moon. In the background the dark outline of a mountain can be seen against the slightly less dark sky.

About:

The Parkway Motel is a sight I stumbled upon one night during a road trip. My wife and I took a trip to see the sights of Bryce Canyon and Zion. Those parks are beautiful, but the roadside along the way also offers many gems.

This is a photo that wasn't printed until several years after it was taken. I never got a print I liked of it until I set up my darkroom here in Sacramento and started working on it. I can probably thank the pandemic for making me dig back through some old negatives for something to print.
