Trava...

A long exposure photograph of road side motel sign. On the left side of the frame in the foreground a darkened building can be seen. At the end of the building the sign is lit up. At the very top of the sign a bubble shape with the letters "Trava" is visible, the rest of the words are too blown out with light to be legible. Below that the word "MOTEL" is horizontal in all caps. At the bottom of the sign is a marque that advertises "Phone", "Low vacation rates", "Low monthly rates", "Cable TV", and "Kitchenettes". In the middle of the frame a sidewalk divides the sign and building and the street to the right. Street lights can be seen down the distance of the street.

About:

Another jaunt down Main Street in Mesa from when I first started working on these night lights. The name of the motel is obscured by the overblown highlights. This was before I got my technique dialed in for metering these high contrast scenes and printing highlights. While not perfect, I still really like the print. It's a good reminder of my journey with these photos.

The name of the motel is "Trava-Leers".
